This project was for a 3rd-year submission for the Atelier Speaker group project. We had to design a project that was inspired by the word "speaker". Our interpretation of it was speaking about issues in the world.

The installation focuses on the population of the Javan rhino at the time. With just 60 remaining in the world, we created a horn and connected an LED for each to represent each remaining life in the shape of the island of Java.

The installation plays sounds of the Javan rhinos and the reasons for their decreased population in an effort to invoke an emotional impact by allowing users to experience what their extinction could sound like. (During the time of this project, 12 new baby Javan rhinos were born)
